–  The heat is finally getting to these aging cottonwoods just to the west of Highway 81.  Hopefully they’ll respond to the cool-down that comes with an impending storm.  –

–  Late in summer the cottonwoods arch over the country roads completely, creating a vertual tunnel of shade.  It’s lovely and beautiful, and just off the highway.  –

–  While much of Fillmore County is fairly flat, south of Highway 74 the hills begin to roll gently.  As the sun goes down an orange glow creeps over the land for just a moment before darkness falls.  –

–  This old gal stared at me as I stared at her from the shoulder off Highway 74.  Her coat was actually a lovely shade of orange, and after I watched her awhile I closed my eyes tightly and there she was again – in blue.  So I left her that way.  –

–  As the sun goes down sometimes the atmosphere takes on  quiet and serene colors, probably the result of dry farm land floating away with a gentlest of breezes above pollen-laden corn fields.  –
